Crazy mofos 7~

Are you ready?  Have you been eagerly waiting on the edge of your recliner?  Have you digested your turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie? Well, I’m ready to reveal the motor home thus far!  Got it to a point where we are actually gonna take it on the road for a little R & R, but I have a hunch Randy will be stowing away some tools and “play things” for him to work on while we are away.  Can’t slow that man down…and don’t want to!

Light fixtures have been painted, check. New cabinet hardware, check. New color on the bathroom cabinets doors!!  Yes, brilliant idea.

I like it, gives the bathroom area a whole different look, a little more masculine feel.  I like to try and keep a balance.  Yin and Yang.

On being grateful~

begrateful

Thanksgiving is upon us, happy turkey day and all the trimmings that go with that greeting, sincerely.  I’ve been under the weather, so not feeling real festive, and now Randy’s feeling puny too.  So we will dream of pumpkin pie and whipped cream, since the sensory of smell and taste have left the building. We will dream of being with our family and extended family, so we don’t share our germs.

Just a reminder (and note to self) that gratitude should be felt daily, first thing when our feet hit the floor…ok, so maybe after that first sip of coffee, which I’m always grateful for!

And please, please be kind!!  Always, in all ways. Doesn’t cost a thing, yet brings peace to the hearts of those around you. Rudeness seems to be plentiful, already, so soon. Holiday stress is real and starts earlier every year. Let’s all just try to put attitude and differences aside, learn a new way. Put a smile on your face and forge ahead.

See you at the next red light.

(and if this makes no sense, i apologize, common sense has slipped out the door with taste and smell, hopefully to return soon)

Happy Thanksgiving All, I am grateful for YOU~

Fabric, fabric everywhere, I was having dreams about all this fabric!!

147

This kind of project can sure try your patience, but we are remembering to have fun with it and not to put pressure on ourselves to get it done.  Randy’s in charge of upholstering the frame, I am redoing cushions.

113 126

My first EVER attempt at this. Took the old cushion apart and cut the new fabric to size. They had zippers in them, but I elected to make a flap in the back to stuff the stuffing back into it. Worked out great! 140

The old UGLY with the new. I’m gonna like this!!144 ~~click here to see what else is getting done~~

Back to the RV remod…SONY DSC

Ah, remember the UGLY back splash in the kitchen…but looky what I found!096

I really like the look and the embossing on it, they are quite simply to put up, just use a little adhesive and stick it up there. (Easy for me to say since Randy does all the cutting.) You can find these tiles at any Home Depot or Lowe’s, they have a few choices of colors and embossing. Not exactly cheap at about $20/square, but we didn’t need many.  Glad to get rid of the mirrors around the stove, and dated mirrors at that.  I think the brown against the off white Corian counter is a nice contrast.

We’ve started the ripping and tearing apart of the couch, eek, what were we thinking?! I’m more intimidated than Randy, but I’m making the cushions, which I’ve never done before and don’t have a pattern for.

097 UGLY material…be gone, fuckity bye, I say!!

But holy hello, what have I gotten myself into???  Look at this mess of fabric!!  I had to take step by step pics so I wouldn’t forget how they went together.

But this is what keeps me going with it…I LOVE this fabric I picked out for the couch.  LOVE it, did I say that?  So my colors are set, going with brown and whatever else that color is, it’s like a blue teal, aqua, not turquoise.  Leans towards the hue of blue than green .  No green in it.

I hope you’ve been enjoying watching us work and spend our money. Check back again soon, and tell your friends to give us a look-see.

And may peace be with you ALL.

Let me off (audio)~

I’m feeling the need for a little poetry today, the air is heavy…it’s what i know.

Hope you enjoy, and hey, try picking up a pen and writing your feelings down…i swear by that and its healing powers.  Empower yourself.

Things have been in motion, stuff is getting done, progress is in effect!

Let me remind you of how UGLY the flooring in the motor home was before, Randy couldn’t take it!! That was the very first thing he did to it…rip and tear, and he’s off and running.

Flooring BEFORE

Flooring BEFORE

Rip and Tear

We had 4 choices of colored flooring to consider, only 2 were viable options compared to the color of the cabinets.  The lighter wood color with gray tones and a beach ‘feel’ lost out to the darker wood color with warm undertones. It seemed to offset the color of the cabinets and went better with some ideas I had rolling around in my head already. Randy liked it better and I had to agree. I hate when he’s right!

Old Pilots (audio)~

I’m taking a break, for the moment, from my normal everyday routines, to honor those that have been brave enough to serve for our freedoms and our often self-centered selves.

Words are hard to come by for this poet, so I will share with you a poem written by a dear friend and fellow poet, the late Joseph Porter, aka the Mountain Man.  He asked me years ago to record this poem as a gift to him, and I was honored to do so!  This is Old Pilots

In loving memory to Joe Porter, Dan McHenry Hickey (Poet Laureate, Madison GA) and Robert White.  Salute~

To my daddy, John, and my brother, Mark; i love you and thank you dearly.  To Bill Barrington, granddad to my daughter-in-law, hugs.

To my new friend Ed Clary WWII Veteran from Bradenton, FL

And the countless others that have served with all they have/had!

(sorry if i didn’t mention you by name, there are so many to thank)

We took the beast for a trial run this weekend. Didn’t venture far, just an hour away to Arcadia, FL, cow country.  It’s good to get away from the eddy that is living on the edge, also known as the coast. Went to hang with my parents for a spell.

So we packed up our tools, paint, yada, yada, you know it can’t be a relaxing vacay.  Only went from Friday to Sunday so I can’t really even call it a vacay.

We just needed to give the ol’ girl a try. Did I tell you she is a 2000, with 47k miles?  She handles good on the road according to Randy. We had an Indendence motor home a while back and he did NOT like the way it drove. He said it felt top heavy and light. He never felt comfortable driving it. Thank goodness his brother didn’t mind chauffeuring us around.

Crazy mofos 2~

Randy and I have different styles of attacking a project.  I like to let a house ‘talk to me’ and tell me what would bring it to life.  So no-doubt that is how I thought we’d approach the rv remod.  But I’ve been married to my husband for 27 years, you would certainly think I would know better, perhaps it’s more a matter of wishful thinking.

Randy wakes up in the wee hours of the morning, I’m talking like 2:00 a.m.  I have to admit, we do go to bed way earlier than normal folk. I’m the daughter of a farmer, so it’s natural to me to go to bed with sun and wake up with the sun. We LOVE the mornings, but he really loves the mornings.  So before I even got used to the fact there was this monstrosity in our yard, he had the old carpet tore out.  Not complaining, ’cause he sure does get things done, and beside that…the carpet was some kind of Ugly!

It has great bones!
